West Chester, Pa. - The Millersville men's tennis team swept doubles and five of the six singles players won their matches in an 8-1 drubbing of West Chester Friday evening.
The win was Millersville's second-straight in PSAC East play and moved its record to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in the conference. West Chester fell to 4-6 overall.
Drew Slocum and
Andrew Sorgi teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Erik Wright and
Tyler Reppert followed with an 8-6 win in the No. 2 slot. The No. 3 team of
Donald Swantko and
Henry Ben scored an 8-6 win, as well.
Slocum (No. 1), Swantko (No. 2) and Wright (No. 6) cruised to straight-set victories in singles action. Reppert needed an extra set to dispose of John Howanski, though. Howanski took the first set, 4-6, but Reppert won the second and third, 6-1, 7-5.
Sorgi, still returning from a hand injury, earned a hard-fought, three-set win at No. 3 singles that included two tiebreakers.
MIllersville hosts Kutztown--one of the PSAC's best teams--on April 7. Last year, Kutztown eliminated the Marauders in the NCAA Atlantic Regional.
