Second Half Spells Doom for Marauders Again

Box Score

Millersville, Pa. -
This season, the Millersville men's basketball team has faltered in the second half more times than it would like to remember. On Wednesday at East Stroudsburg, it was the same old story with a close game turning into a 78-54 ESU win.

For the third time in the last five outings Millersville (8-18, 3-10 PSAC East) was tied or led the game with fewer than 15 minutes left. Each time, though, a severe offensive drought cost the Marauders a win, and on Wednesday it began with 14:56 left.

A Palmer McDurfee trey put the Marauders in front 43-42. Millersville, however, failed to score for the next 7:53. During that stretch, the one point lead turned into a 20-point deficit. East Stroudsburg (22-4, 9-4 PSAC East) continued to pile on, pushing the lead to as many as 26.

Millersville shot 32 percent on the game; no match for East Stroudsburg, which shot 44.9 percent. Jason Blake led the Marauders with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals. Rob Wyley scored 11 on 5-of-6 shooting, and Mike Seibert added 10 on three 3-pointers.

East Stroudsburg's balanced attack featured four players in double figures. Mike Tobin's 13 points and 12 rebounds were both team highs.

After opening the season 5-1, the Marauders have dropped 17 of 20 and three in a row.

Millersville's season comes to a close Saturday at Pucillo Gymnasium against Mansfield. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
