THE STARTING FIVE

· After opening the season with a convincing 77-60 win over Lock Haven, the Marauders have lost a pair of close games. Both games came down to the final seconds and both were decided by a total of seven points. For the Marauders to bounce back, they'll need to improve their offensive consistency. In the two losses, they shot 37.1 percent from the field and 22.9 percent from 3-point range. Opponents shot 45.8 percent from the field. Millersville is ranked 15th in the PSAC in shooting percentage and 15th in scoring offense. Along with the point total dropping off, so have the assists. Millersville totaled 13 assists in the opener but averaged 7.0 in the two losses.
· While the offense hasn't clicked just yet, the defense has been outstanding. Millersville is averaging 7.0 blocks per game as a team. Bernard Brown has eight blocks and Rob Wyley has swatted six. Wyley blocked a total of seven shots all of last season. Millersville swatted at least five shots and recorded at least six steals in all three games. Millersville ranks second in the PSAC behind Mansfield in blocked shots. Brown leads the league in blocks per game and Wyley is tied for fourth.
· The Marauders have improved drastically on the boards. Last year, they were out-rebounded by more than four rebounds per game and were out-rebounded in 19 of 27 games. This year, they are out-rebounding opponents by more than four per game. They are also sixth in offensive rebounding. Millersville owns an 113-97 edge in rebounds this year and won the rebounding battle in two of three games. Of the team's rebounds, 40 have been offensive and have led to 35 second chance points. Wyley ranks first in the PSAC in rebounds per game and his 4.7 offensive rebounds per game is also a league best.
· Mike Holley's first three games in a Millersville uniform have been historic. Few if any freshmen in the long history of Millersville hoops have led the team in scoring and assists in each of the first three games. Holley was the PSAC East Freshman of the Week in week two, and he followed that with a career-high 26 points, three assists and three steals against Philadelphia. Holley ranks sixth in the PSAC in scoring average and he and Gannon's Kelvin Agee are the only rookies ranked in the top 10.
· Millersville is off to its slowest start since the 2001-02 team opened the year 0-3. In Fred Thompson's 13 seasons, the Marauders have won at least two of their first three games 10 times. After its slow start in 2001-02, that team went on to post a 17-10 record and play in the PSAC Tournament.

ABOUT LINCOLN
· Lincoln is off to its slow start under first-year head coach John Hill. Hill was the women's head coach at St. Paul's and also the head men's coach at Virginia State for three seasons before arriving at Lincoln. As the head coach at Virginia State, he faced the Marauders in 2002-03 and lost to Fred Thompson's team, 84-62.
· Millersville controls the all-time series by a 15-3 count but despite the close proximity, the programs have not met since 1997. Lincoln won that match-up 85-77.
· Lincoln is not a prolific offensive team, averaging just 46.8 points per game while shooting 34.3 percent from the field, 17.5 percent from three and 57.9 percent from the free throw line. The Lions are also averaging 23 turnovers per game. With the Marauders' offensive struggles, it is likely that Saturday's game will be a low-scoring affair. Both teams also play solid defense. Lincoln's opponents are scoring just 62.2 points per game and shooting 37.3 percent from the field.
· Denzel Mooney is the team's go-to offensive player. His 15.5 point-per-game average is tops on the team. He has hoisted a team-leading 68 shots but has not been a threat from 3-point range, converting just 5-of-31 shots. Eugene Smith is a do-it-all player for the Lions. He is second on the team with 7.3 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (9.3), blocks (3), steals (6) and is second in assists (10).
· Since posting a 20-9 record in 2006-07, Lincoln has struggled through three-straight losing seasons. The program went 4-22 in 2007-08, 8-18 in 2008-09 and 4-22 last year.  Over the last three years, Lincoln is 3-34 on the road.
