Mansfield, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team competed in its first dual meet of the 2010-11 season at Mansfield Saturday afternoon and produced several impressive times and first-place finishes.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Arielle Walbert, Breanne Martinez, Sarah Bernhardt and Amie Mowery claimed first place with a time of 4:15.12. Laura Castello and Amy Leiphart took home first and second, respectively, in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Castello finished in 11:56.57 followed by Leiphart in 12:04.92.
Taking the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle, Amanda Thomas touched the wall in 2:06.07 and Adriana Rodriguez finished in 2:09.41. Millersville finished in the top two in the 50-yard backstroke, with Walbert clocking in at 30.20 seconds and Samantha Strickler at 31.48.
Martinez earned the top spot in the 50-yard breaststroke in 33.10 seconds, followed by Courtney Wallace in second in 35.34. Mowery won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.16.
The Marauders swept the top three places in the 100-yard free, with Rodriguez finishing in 53.34 seconds, followed by Thomas in 58.95 and Rebecca Anderson in 59.65. Sara Keenan and Christine Neville picked up second and third places, respectively, in the 100-backstroke in 1:10.13 and 1:13.56.
Millersville travels to Pittsburgh for the Chatham Invitational on Nov. 6.
