Millersville, Pa. - An early mishandled shot seemed to be too much for the Marauders to overcome against the No. 13 Huskies. Bloomsburg was able to score in both sessions to give it a 2-0 victory and its fifth PSAC win.
It only took the Huskies 1:13 into the match to strike. A 40-yard shot taken by Bloomsburg's Kristine Preski on net slipped through the hands of Marauder goalkeeper
Kelsey Benson and trickled into the net to give the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.
It was all Bloomsburg (6-1-2, 5-1-1 PSAC) in the first session. The Huskies had 11 shots and five corners while controlling the ball most of the half. Millersville (1-8-1, 0-6-1 PSAC) was only able to muster two shots on goal while earning zero corner attempts.
The second half seemed to be a better one for the Marauders, producing three times a many shots on goal than in the first. But a corner kick by the Huskie's Natalie Adams connected with teammate Lauren Stedman for a header mid-way through the session and put Bloomsburg up, 2-0.
The Marauders had no answer and were out-shot once again 8-6 in the second and 19-8 in the match.
Benson finished the game with six saves to put her over 50 saves on the year.
The Marauders will continue play this Friday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m., against Clarion.
