Marauders Fall to Golden Knights

Box Score

Erie, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team found the net twice but it wasn't enough as the Golden Knights of Gannon came away with a 3-2 victory Friday evening in Erie.

Gannon (4-8-3, 3-7-2 PSAC) opened up the scoring with a goal off the left post when Erin Resosky struck a pass from teammate Jordan Rickan. The Golden Knights found the back of the goal again just two minutes later when Amanda Sharbaugh passed it to teammate Tenyka Francique to put Gannon up, 2-0

Millersville (1-14-1, 0-11-1 PSAC) finally got on the board in the 42nd minute when Sarah Tocci sent a pass up to teammate Allison Snyder. Snyder found her way through the defense to go one on one with the Gannon keeper.  Snyder rippled the net as she cut the Golden Knight lead in half at 2-1.

Gannon scored once more in the second half on a penalty kick awarded to Emily Martin, but was taken by Francique. It would be Francique's second goal of the contest.

Senior Alison Silva brought the Marauders back to within one score when she took a mishandled goal kick by the Gannon defense and found the back of the net from 25 yards out in the 71st minute.

Millersville was unable to find an equalizer as they fell, 3-2

Taylor Suskie recorded 11 saves for the Marauders.

Millersville continues play tomorrow afternoon at Mercyhurst. Action is suggested to start at 2 p.m.
