Box Score
Millersville, Pa. — Bloomsburg jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead and held on to post a 3-1 victory against the Millersville women's soccer team on Saturday evening at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Ali McCrossin put the visitors up 1-0 in the ninth minute of the game off an assist from Kim Turner. McCrossin was able to collect a ball in the box before slipping it by Marauders' (1-3, 0-2 PSAC East) goalkeeper
Taylor Suskie.
Bloomsburg (2-1, 2-0 PSAC East), coming off an upset of No. 13 West Chester last Wednesday, padded its lead 11:12 later. Katie Walczuk scored her second goal of the season with help coming from Kelly Modes. Walczuk's goal would eventually turn out to be the game-winner.
The Huskies weren't done, however, as Becky Canderan scored with 11 minutes to play in the first half to give Bloom a 3-0 lead.
Millersville could have packed it in, but the ladies in white continued to fight to the end. Their perseverance paid off in the 80th minute when
Olivia Taylor scored her team-leading third goal of the season. Suskie, who moved from goalkeeper to forward after halftime, assisted on the goal.
The Marauders could not find a second or third goal in the cards over the last 10 minutes, dropping their second straight PSAC Eastern Division game.
Suskie made one save in net for the Marauders, while freshman
Brandi Tipton came on to make saves on all three shots on goal she faced. Frances Nicoletti made nine saves in picking up the victory for Bloomsburg.
The women's soccer team begins a three-game road trip Tuesday night at West Chester. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
