Box Score

East Stroudsburg, Pa. — The No. 3 Millersville men's soccer team got a goal in the first 10 minutes of Wednesday evening's highly anticipated PSAC East opener with homestanding East Stroudsburg and never relinquished the advantage in a 1-0 victory.

After a failed clearance attempt by the Warriors (1-2, 0-1 PSAC East), Kyle Loughlin found Anthony Pagnotti who beat ESU keeper Larry Pokrywa for the only goal of the game at 8:12 of the first half. The goal was Pagnotti's first of the season and the assist was Loughlin's team-leading third.

Millersville (2-0, 1-0 PSAC East) put a stranglehold on the Warriors throughout the evening. East Stroudsburg, picked by the division's coaches as the pre-season division favorite, managed just one shot in the first 45 minutes of play.

The Marauders back line of Thomas Bargmann, Jeremy Yoder, and 2008 All-PSAC East First Team selection John Claffey didn't allow much more in the second half. ESU mustered just five shots in the second half and recorded zero shots on goal for the 90 minute duration of the game.

With the win, Millersville secured its fifth straight victory against the Warriors, dating back to 2007. The Black and Gold has also gone into East Stroudsburg and emerged with a win in three consecutive seasons.

Matt Langione made no saves on the evening, but still came away with his first shutout of the season, after posting 6.5 in 2008.

The Marauders will now look to start 3-0 for the fourth time this decade when they host Bloomsburg on Saturday night at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
