Mansfield, Pa. — The Millersville women's soccer team couldn't come up with a marker for the third consecutive game, as it fell 2-0 at Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon.
Spurned on by two goals less than six minutes apart, the Mountaineers (3-3-1, 1-3-1 PSAC East) carried a 2-0 advantage to the half and never looked back. Erika Moyer started the scoring for homestanding Mansfield by beating freshman keeper
Brandi Tipton on a breakaway at 22:19. It was the fourth goal of the season for Moyer and the Marauders (1-6, 0-4 PSAC East) once again looked to play catch up.
Kelsey Gelina made the uphill battle a little bit steeper in the 30th minute, as she scored her first goal of the season. Gelina took a pass from Alicia Melnick and blasted a long shot home for a 2-0 lead.
Millersville generated some offensive chances, firing 10 shots in the game. Unfortunately, the Marauders only put three on goal, all of which were stopped by Mansfield keeper Alexis Wilhelm.
Brianna Pham took a team-high four shots for MU, while
Taylor Suskie,
Alison Silva, and
Olivia Taylor each put a shot on goal in the contest. Tipton made five saves in defeat.
Saturday evening the Marauders play their first game at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium since Sept. 5. PSAC East foe Shippensburg is the opponent and game time is set for 5 p.m.
