Millersville, Pa. — Olivia Taylor scored twice and Millersville racked up 28 shots as the women's soccer team picked up a convincing 5-0 victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom on Monday evening at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Marauders (1-1) wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard.
Niki Roberts picked up the first tally of her season when she took a pass from Taylor and found the lower left corner of the net. Just over six minutes later Taylor netted her first of the evening. The junior collected a
Jenna Lininger pass in the box before beating Goldey-Beacom (0-2) keeper Kristin Degenhardt.
Taylor and Lininger hooked up again in the 21st minute to give the Black and Gold a 3-0 advantage. The two goals gave Taylor her first multi-goal game as a Marauder. Lininger, meanwhile, recorded the first multi-point game of her career in just her second game.
The Marauders first half scoring would be capped off in the 39th minute as
Kate Moeller fired home a shot off the right post and in for a 4-0 lead.
The Marauders would continue to bring the offense in the second half, but the only goal they would get came off the foot of senior
Sarah Cameron in the 63rd minute, her first of the season.
Taylor Suskie picked up the win in goal, stopping all three shots she faced from the Lightning. Goldey-Beacom's Alyssa Vetrano, who entered the game at halftime, made eight saves and allowed just one goal in the final 45 minutes of play.
Millersville will look to run its winning streak to two when it opens Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play at East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night.
