
Marauder Trio Named All-PSAC East

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville baseball standouts Derek Kline, Ryan McCormick and Miles Gallagher were honored by the coaches of the PSAC when the trio earned All-PSAC Eastern Division mention Wednesday afternoon.
Kline, who led the team in hitting as well as complete games on the mound, was named All-PSAC East First Team as a utility player. McCormick was a second team pick at second base, and Gallagher was second team at catcher.
For Kline, it is his second career All-PSAC honor after being named rookie of the year and to the second team in 2008. The red-shirt sophomore not only starred on offense and at first base, but also emerged as one of Millersville's top starting pitchers.
Kline led the Marauders in five offensive categories, including batting average (.397), hits (66), doubles (17), slugging percentage (.595) and on base percentage (.449). His 33 RBIs and five home runs ranked second on the team as well.
In his first season as a pitcher, Kline posted a 3-3 record with a 2.87 ERA in 10 games and six starts. His ERA was best among the team's starting pitchers. He also struck out 31 and walked just 10 in 37.2 innings of work. Opponents managed only a .206 batting average against him.
While Kline proved to be one of the team's best run producers, McCormick was the team's table setter at the top of the order. The sophomore second baseman showed a tremendous knack for getting on base, posting a .448 on base percentage, drawing 21 walks and being hit by a pitch 11 times while striking out just 12 times.
McCormick finished the year with a .331 batting average, hit three homers and drove in 25 runs. He also led the team in runs scored with 40 and stolen bases with 13. McCormick was named PSAC East Player of the Week on March 23 as well.
Not only did excel at the plate, but McCormick proved to be one of the best defensive second baseman in the PSAC. He committed just eight errors in 221 chances. He was among the league leaders in assists and double plays turned.
Gallagher once again proved to be one of the most well-rounded backstops in the PSAC, showing the ability to hit, run and managed the game behind the plate. Gallagher hit .282 while starting 43 of the team's 47 games. He was second on the team with six homers and drove in 29 runs. He also tied for the team lead with 13 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
The junior had just one passed ball all season and posted a solid .972 fielding percentage, committing just five errors in 176 chances. It was Gallagher's first postseason honor, and he became Millersville's first catcher to earn All-PSAC honors since current head coach Jon Shehan in 2004.
As a team, the Marauders finished 24-23, marking their first winning season since 2002.
