Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's tennis team earned an impressive PSAC victory over Mercyhurst Thursday afternoon, 5-4. The two teams split the singles matches, but Millersville clinched the win with two doubles victories.
Millersville improved to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC and locked on to no worse than the No. 3 seed in the upcoming PSAC Championships. The loss dropped Mercyhurst to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the league. Mercyhurst remains in line for the final spot in the championships.
Drew Slocum continued his oustanding spring by earning a win at No. 1 singles and then teaming with
Andrew Sorgi for a crucial 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles.
Mercyhurst took singles matches at flights two, three and four, but
Henry Ben picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 and
Dusty Speicher won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 to ensure the split.
Slocum and Sorgi's win, combined with
Donald Swantko and Ben's 8-4 win at No. 4 sealed the deal for the Marauders.
Millersville hosts Dowling Saturday in a non-conference match-up.
