Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team lost its first PSAC East match of 2009 Tuesday as the East Stroudsburg Warriors climbed on top with 3-0 singles lead and secured a 7-2 victory. The Marauders' second straight loss drops their record to 6-8 and puts them 0-1 in conference play.
Millersville's first three singles players,
Samantha Prager,
Andrea Konas and
Kaeley McCabe, only managed to win four sets through the first three matches, before #Jenny Habecker# fought back a first-set loss to claim the team's first victory of the day against ESU's Sarah Deisher, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Next up for the Marauders was
Shauna Powers, who fell to ESU's Marissa Tanner 1-6, 3-6.
Samantha Souders ended the day's singles match play with a victory for Millersville, however, beating ESU's Angela Terri, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the teams agreed ahead of time to play a single set with an eight-game minimum. The Marauders lost all three 8-4, 8-3, 8-6.
Next up for the Marauders is Bloomsburg, another conference rival, who they'll play Friday at home. Bloomsburg is 6-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
