Hilton Head, S.C. - The Millersville men's tennis team opened its spring scheduled Sunday afternoon in Hilton Head, S.C., against PSAC rival Bloomsburg in a non-conference match. Despite several closely contest matches, Bloomsburg remained unbeaten and handed the Marauders a 9-0 defeat.
Bloomsburg improved to 3-0 on its spring schedule, while Millersville dropped to 1-3 on the year dating back to the fall.
Millersville battled in all three doubles matches. Drew Slocum and Andrew Sorgi were edged by Bloomsburg's top team of Fernando Perez and Ryan Glubo, 8-6. At No. 3 doubles, Henry Ben and Donald Swantko extended their match but fell to Alan Hummel and Seth Ryback, 9-7.
In singles action, Slocum won four games, but could not knock off Perez, the defending PSAC Champion. At No. 4 singles, Sori dropped the first set to Glubo, 6-0, but battled back to win the second set 4-6. Glubo, however, came out on top in the tiebreaker, 10-6.
The Marauders have four dual matches scheduled in Hilton Head, S.C. They return to action Monday at 12 p.m. against Grand Rapids Community College.
