Millersville, Pa. - East Stroudsburg outscored the Millersville men's basketball team 11-3 in the final 4:24 to pull away with a 68-63 win inside Pucillo Gymnasium Wednesday evening, spoiling Senior Night for four Marauders.
The contest was closely contested throughout with eight times and 12 lead changes. Millersville trailed by as many as seven in the second period, though, before a 7-0 run that culminated in an
Alen Ahmetovic lay-up gave them a 49-46 advantage with 10:08 left.
East Stroudsburg battled back and took a 57-55 lead on a Pat Fleury lay-up with 5:45 left, but
Zac Bauermaster slashed to the hoop for two and
Cullen Murray-Kemp drilled a 3-pointer on back-to-back possession to put Millersville in front 60-57 with 4:24 on the clock. Millersville, however, missed its next six shots, allowing East Stroudsburg to pull ahead and put the game away at the free throw line.
Millersville (10-16, 4-9) was officially eliminated from PSAC Tournament contention with the loss. East Stroudsburg stayed in the mix for the postseason by improving to 16-10 overall and 7-6 in league play.
Millersville handled East Stroudsburg's full court pressure well, committing just 13 turnovers. The outside shooting, however, failed the Marauders down in the stretch as they converted just 4-of-26 3-pointers on the game.
Brandon Widener paced Millersville with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting and also grabbed six rebounds and two steals. Ahmetovic turned in a career performance with nine points and 11 rebounds.
Palmer McDurfee also chipped in nine points and four rebounds.
Chris Bach led East Stroudsburg with 18 points and seven boards.
