Box Score
Wheeling, W.Va. - Millersville knew it needed an offensive spark to keep up with West Liberty. Redshirt freshman
Guye Weber provided a career day with 18 points, but it was hardly enough as the high-octane Hilltopper offense raced past the Marauders 91-61 in the Main Street Classic hosted by Wheeling Jesuit.
Millersville (5-4) shot 45.5 percent from the field and knocked down 10-of-20 3-pointers, posting its best shooting performance in since Dec. 7. But the full-court pressure of West Liberty (8-1) forced the Marauders to commit 25 turnovers, and the Hilltoppers received double figures from five players including 20 points and nine rebounds from John Wolosinczuk.
West Liberty entered the contest averaging just over 100 points per game, but Millersville's defense and deliberate halfcourt offense slowed the pace. Millersville trailed by 13 points at the half and closed the gap to as few as 10 early in the second period, but lightening-quick 8-0 run by the Hilltoppers sent the Marauders reeling an unable to recover.
Weber scored 10 of his 18 in the first nine minutes of the game. He had never scored more than nine in any of his previous outings. He drilled 4-of-6 3-pointers and also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
Brandon Widener added 17 points and hit 3-of-4 from three, but all three his treys came when the damage had been done.
Mike Seibert chipped in nine points and recorded a career-high four steals.
Millersville will have to recover in a hurry as it starts PSAC crossover play on the road Saturday against nationally-ranked Indiana (Pa.). The following day, the Marauders travel to California (Pa.) for a 3 p.m. tip.
