Box Score
New Castle, Del. — Down 1-0 with just under 40 minutes to play, the Millersville women's soccer team turned to a veteran and a newcomer to pull out a 2-1 come from behind victory over Wilmington in New Castle, Del. on Wednesday afternoon.
Brittany Rhodes put the Wildcats (8-5-1) up 1-0 in the 25th minute. Rhodes took a feed from Angelica Appold and beat Millersville (5-11-1) keeper
Taylor Suskie for the early lead. The Marauders trailed by that score at halftime, despite outshooting Wilmington 6-3 over the opening 45 minutes.
Junior
Olivia Taylor wasted little time in knotting the game at one.
Jenna Gould found Taylor in the 53rd minute and Taylor pushed a ball past Wilmington keeper Amanda Walters for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
While the upperclassman, Taylor, took it upon herself to tie the game, it was a freshman that notched the game-winner.
Jenna Lininger collected a loose ball in the box and took a shot that deflected off a Wildcats' defender and into the net at 71:47. The goal was Lininger's first of her collegiate-career and gave the Marauders back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Suskie made two saves to earn her fifth win of the season. With the win, Millersville moved to 3-1-1 in its last five games. The team will look to continue its recent string of success next Wednesday when it hosts Kutztown. Next Wednesday is the final home game of the 2009 season and Senior Night.
