BLACKOUT in Effect for Soccer Games Friday

Millersville, Pa. — With the season winding down and each game becoming more meaningful, a BLACKOUT has been scheduled, with all fans being encouraged to wear their black, for this Friday's soccer games against West Chester at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

The fourth-ranked Millersville men's soccer team, which may be headed up the polls this week, carries an 11-1 overall record into play this week. The men have already clinched the PSAC Eastern Division title and are a perfect 6-0 in conference play. Winning the East ensures that the Marauders will host a PSAC semifinal contest.

Kyle Loughlin leads the way for Steve Widdowson's team. Loughlin has nine goals, five assists, and has already matched his career-high in points with 23. In goal, Matt Langione has eight shutouts in 12 games and as a team Millersville has nine. The school record for shutouts in a season is 10, set by the 2002 team. That mark can be tied on Tuesday at the Univ. of the District of Columbia.

It is also senior night for the men's team on Friday, as the match marks the last regular season home game of 2009. The men's game is up first on Friday evening, with a 5 p.m. start.

The women's team comes in 1-0-1 in its last two games. The Marauders played to a 0-0 draw last Tuesday at Bloomsburg, before winning a 3-2 overtime thriller at Lock Haven on Saturday. Millersville is looking to avenge a 3-0 loss at West Chester back on Sept. 8.

Sophomore Taylor Suskie had the honor of pulling off a true oddity in Saturday's game. Suskie played keeper for the majority of the game, before subbing to a forward position and scoring the tying goal with under 10 minutes remaining. She then subbed back in at keeper and got the win when Alison Silva scored the overtime game-winning goal.

It is not senior night for the women yet, as they still have regular season home contests scheduled with Mansfield (Oct. 20) and Kutztown (Oct. 28). The women's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
