Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's basketball team built a 10 point lead at the half Saturday against Indiana (Pa.). The visiting Crimson Hawks, however, needed just over five minutes to erase Millersville's lead and rally to a 76-66 triumph in Pucillo Gymnasium.
IUP outscored the Marauders (4-6) 47-27 in the second frame to improve to 8-2 on the year. The loss for Millersville was its third in a row, marking the longest skid since the 2005-06 season.

Reggie Bates finished with a game 25, but 19 came in the first half. He paced the team early, hitting 6-of-8 from the field, 3-of-3 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the line in 17 first half minutes. The rest of the team followed suit. Classmate
Makal Stibbins knocked down 5-of-8 shots for 11 first half points.
As a team, the Marauders committed just two first half turnovers and turned 11 IUP miscues into 15 points.
But as Bates cooled off, so did the Marauders. It took Millersville nearly four minutes to crack the scoring column in the second period and managed just four points through the first 9:20. By that time, IUP had roared in front, 47-41.
Bates did not attempt his first field goal of the second half until the 7:04 mark, and IUP ran the lead to as many as 11 (57-46) with 6:33 to go. A quick 6-0 run by the Marauders--capped by three
Palmer McDurfee free throws--cut the lead to five. But Millersville its next three shots and two free throws, allowing IUP to build the lead back up to eight. From there, Millersville could not recover.
Stibbins added 20 points and eight rebounds to Millersville's cause. Bates finished 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from behind the arc. While Stibbins and Bates combined to shoot 17-of-27, the rest of the team shot 6-of-28 from the field and 3-of-15 from deep.
IUP was led by Gerald Brooks' 24 points and 12 rebounds. Thomas Young added 15 points and three blocks.
