Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville women's soccer team unleashed a shot barrage Friday afternoon in its match with Concord (W.Va.), firing 18 of them, including 10 on goal, in a 4-0 win that kept the Lady Marauders unbeaten at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium this season.
Junior Nicki Conzentino struck first for the Marauders (2-1), in the 17th minute. Conzentino took a beautiful cross from sophomore Olivia Taylor and finished it off, for her second goal of the season and a 1-0 Millersville lead.
The Marauders would take six shots on goal in the first half, but had only Conzentino's tally up on the board as they headed to halftime clinging to a 1-0 lead.
Just over 15 minutes into the second half, freshman Kayla Hartley got things rolling for the Marauders, again. Hartley settled a Taylor pass in the box and beat Lions' keeper, Sarah Coelho, for a 2-0 lead.
In the 76th minute, senior Sarah Cameron beat Coelho with a chip shot into the upper left corner of the goal to give Millersville a 3-0 lead. Hartley picked up her first assist of the season on the Cameron goal.
The Marauders didn't take long to find the back of the net again, as sophomore Kate Moeller finished off the scoring six minutes later. Taylor picked up her third assist of the game feeding another nice cross into the box for Moeller to blast home and Millersville's lead was extended to 4-0.
The Lions (1-3) managed to register seven shots on goal for the game, but senior Jaime Lancaster was up to the task. She kept all seven out of the net in recording her first shutout this season.
The Marauders will be back in action Tuesday evening, taking on Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game at Chryst Field. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
