Box Score
Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals in the second half to defeat visiting Wilmington (Del.) University 4-2 on Wednesday evening at Chryst Field to improve to 4-0 for the first time in school history.
Both squads entered Wednesday's game unbeaten and nationally ranked, but it was the visitors who got on the board first. Fatoma Turay took a pass from Sargbah Tarpeh, moved past a defender and beat Millersville keeper Matt Langione to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
The Marauders struggled to generate offense throughout the first half, as Wilmington put forth a strong defensive effort. As the teams headed to the half, Wilmington still held a 1-0 advantage and Millersville had no shots on goal.
It didn't take long for the Marauders to show how deserving they were of their No. 21 ranking in the second half, as sophomore Shane Seabrook tied the game at one just over two minutes in.
In the 60th minute, Millersville delivered again. Matthew Procopio sent a beautiful ball into the box from just outside the 18, where sophomore Kyle Loughlin headed it home to put the Marauders in front.
Just over four minutes later, senior Sean McLaughlin collected his own rebound and beat Wilmington keeper Ethan Kavanagh to make it 3-1. 49 seconds after the McLaughlin goal, Pat Baffuto rocketed a shot into the net to give the Marauders a 4-1 lead. Loughlin picked up an assist on the goal.
Sargbah Tarpeh would speed through the Millersville defense and net himself a goal with under five minutes remaining in the contest, but it wasn't enough as the Marauders came away with the 4-2 victory.
Langione made five saves for the Marauders in running his record to 4-0 on the year.
The Marauders are back in action Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Chryst Field, as they take on Shippensburg on Alumni Day.
