Millersville, Pa. - The young Millersville women's swimming team boosted its season record to a perfect 3-0 with a tight 109-96 victory over York Friday evening at Pucillo Natatorium.
Freshman Brittany Neifert, who turned in a PSAC qualifying time in the 200-yard freestyle in her last meet, posted a qualifying time in the 200-yard individual medley Friday. She out-distanced classmate Amie Mowery to win the race with a time of 2:18.34. Mowery also shaved six seconds off her time from the previous meet.
Neifert also took first in the 100-yard freestyle. Her time of 55.82 was nearly three seconds better than York's Ashley Stanton, who finished in second.
Mowery also finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:22.56, and fellow freshman Katelyn Schmittle edged junior teammate Breann Martinez in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a time of 25.95 which was good for first place.
Millersville finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Martinez led the pack with a time of 2:39.35.
The Marauders also placed first in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of freshman Kate Evans, Mowery, Martinez and Neifert posted a time of 1:58.50. That time was nearly four seconds better than the team's previous best this season.
Millersville travels to Randolph-Macon on Nov. 21 for the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational. It will be the team's first invitational of the 2008-09 season.
