Marauders Play Spoiler on Senior Night

Box Score

Millersville, Pa.
- Freshman Allison Snyder and sophomore Olivia Taylor each tallied first half goals and senior goalkeeper Jaime Lancaster preserved the lead with several spectacular saves late in the game to help Millersville upset Bloomsburg on homecoming Saturday night at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Millersville (6-10-3, 2-7-3 PSAC East) picked up just its second win in conference play this year but managed to upset a Bloomsburg (13-4-1, 8-3-1 PSAC East) team that was looking to wrap up the Eastern Division title.  With the loss, Bloomsburg slipped to second in the conference while Millersville finishes sixth in the division.

The Huskies struck first in the match when senior forward Ashley Brucker took a feed from the left side from sophomore Kelsey Stoka and flipped the ball over Lancaster's head for a 1-0 lead just over 26 minutes in.

Millersville wasted no time responding as Snyder evened the  match at one when her free kick from 20 yards out found the bottom left of the goal just three minutes later.

The Marauders, who spent much of the first half on the attack as they held a 15-6 shot advantage, quickly took control of the game with the go-ahead goal by Taylor.  Senior Sarah Cameron delivered a drop ball to Taylor who pounded her third goal of the season in to the lower left corner for the Marauders first lead at 32:18.

Lancaster took over for the rest of the match as she picked up eight saves, including six in the second half, for her sixth win of the season.  Lancaster made four saves in the final 20 minutes of the game and stopped a potential game-tying shot with 36 seconds to play with a diving effort.

Millersville outshot the Huskies by a 23-19 count and required Huskie goalkeeper Francis Nicoletti to make 10 saves.

Lancaster and fellow seniors Nicki Conzentino and Sarah Cameron were honored at halftime of the Marauders final game of the 2008 season.
