Ryan Whittle

Ryan Whittle joined the Millersville wrestling program as its assistant coach prior to the 2019-20 season, and he has since helped the Marauders achieve success at the national level, producing 12 national qualifiers and three All-American finishes. Whittle has helped improve the Marauders' finish at the NCAA Super Region 1 Championships each season, and he also helped the Marauders to their first 10-win season in 21 years.

A 2018 graduate of Williams Baptist University (then College), Whittle was a three-time NAIA National Championship qualifier and an American Midwest Conference Champion in 2017. He began his collegiate wrestling career at Clarion University before transferring to Williams Baptist, where he was a member of the program’s inaugural team and served as a team captain. During his time there, Williams Baptist earned two top-five national team finishes, placing fourth and third.

Post college, Whittle continues to compete as an athlete, having participated in the Beach Wrestling World Team Trials and in Greco-Roman wrestling at the U.S. Open in both the Senior and Masters divisions. He placed fourth at the Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier in 2024 and earned a fourth-place finish in the Masters division of the 2025 U.S. Open.

Millersville marks Whittle’s first role as a collegiate wrestling coach. He previously coached at Refinery Youth Wrestling Club in Walnut Ridge, Ark., during the 2018-19 season and supported Williams Baptist in recruiting efforts. After earning his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education in 2018, Whittle was hired as an admissions counselor, recruiting out-of-state students. As an undergraduate, he also served as assistant director of student activities, where he created, promoted, and hosted campus-wide events for the university’s student body.
