2017 marks Zach Smith's sixth season with the program. During his time on staff, Millersville has reached the PSAC Tournament twice. Smith graduated from Millersville with a bachelor's degree in applied engineering and management in 2017. He also serves as the varsity head coach at Lampeter-Strasburg High School.Â
Smith joined the women's volleyball coaching staff as a student assistant prior to the 2012 season. His playing experience includes starring at Lancaster Mennonite High School, where he made history as the first junior to be named a captain in the history of the program. He was also picked as an all-state outside hitter. He currently plays for the Millersville Volleyball Club team and has also played for the Yorktowne Volleyball Club.
As a member of the Yorktowne Volleyball Club team, Smith played outside hitter in 2007 and 2008, but switched to libero and played that position until the end of his time with the team in 2010. As a fun fact, he was the tallest libero at nationals during all three years in which he played the position.
Smith's coaching experience includes the LAVA Boy's U14 and U18 teams. He coached the U14 level in 2010-11 and the U18 level in 2011-12. In addition, he has helped out as the Lancaster Mennonite boy's varsity assistant coach in 2011-12 and worked at Lancaster Mennonite's camp from 2009-12. This summer, he helped with the Millersville University volleyball camps.
