Millersville University alum Alex Stam returned to her alma mater to coach alongside Mary Fleig prior to the 2018-19 season.
A four-year player for the Marauders from 2012-16, Stam started her coaching career at Virginia-Wise working under now-Millersville assistant coach Kristin Kunzman.
At Virginia-Wise, Stam assisted with game preparation, scouting, film breakdown, practice instruction, recruiting, fundraising, travel and postseason workouts. Stam was also responsible for academic progress and support and social media. In 2016-17, she helped the Kunzman-led team to a 21-11 record.
To continue to hone her coaching abilities, Stam has served as an instructor at the Mary Fleig Basketball Camps, Joanne Boyle Camp at the University of Virginia and attended the Moving Up Sports Leadership Conference held at Duke University.
As a player for the Marauders Stam appeared in 90 games and made 73 3-pointers. Her best season came in 2014-15, when she started 15 games and shot a team-leading 35.8 percent from three. She was also a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
Stam received her bachelor's degree in social studies education in 2016.
