Former Olympic player and ultra-experienced coach Marvin Bam joined the Millersville field hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2014 season and made an immediate impact, helping the team to the first NCAA Division II Championship in program history.
In two seasons, Bam has helped the Marauders to a 38-6 record, reaching the PSAC Championship game twice and the NCAA Tournament in both seasons.
In addition to playing for his country of birth, South Africa, for eight years and gaining 98 International caps, Bam has built a coaching resume that includes 20 years of experience in the highest levels of the sport.Â
As a player, Bam played in over 30 international test series and tournaments with South Africa including the 2000 Olympics in Beijing and the 2002 and 2006 World Cup.

Bam is a certified Level 2 coach in the United Kingdom and United States with numerous clubs between the UK and South Africa as director of hockey, head coach and player. Most recently, Bam enjoyed a season with the University of Maryland as assistant coach and technical director. Bam also spent four years as the director of hockey coaching and physical educator at the prestigious Cheltenham Ladies College in England.
