Ron Zangari

Ron Zangari joined the Millersville football staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2008 season and coached the linebackers for three seasons and the cornerbacks starting in 2012.

While with the Marauders, Zangari developed Pat Maloney, Jeff Longley and Shane Gross into two of the most productive tacklers in the PSAC. Both players ranked in the top 15 in tackles in 2010 and Gross was the team leader in sacks.

In his first season coaching the cornerbacks, Zangari oversaw the transition of Lou Brown from wide receiver into one of the top cover corners in the PSAC. Brown totaled a team-leading three interceptions and was among the PSAC leaders with seven pass broken up.

Zangari brought to Millersville a wealth of coaching experience at both the college and local high school levels. He began his coaching career at Manheim Township High School and also served as linebackers coach during a graduate assistantship at Clarion University.

After receiving his master's in education from Clarion in 1995, he was hired as the linebackers coach at Mansfield in 1996. As a PSAC linebackers coach, Zangari helped two players earn First Team All-America honors.The following year became the defensive coordinator at Maine Maritime Academy where he helped the team finish 16th in the nation in total defense.

In 1998, Zagari was named head coach at Division III Curry College and after one season, he moved back to Lancaster County to take over the Thaddeus Stevens program. Following an 0-10 season in 1999, he guided Thaddeus Stevens to three-straight winning seasons and a pair of conference championships. In 2000, he was named Seaboard Conference Coach of the Year.

Zangari also coached one season at J.P. McCaskey High School and two years at Penn Manor before joining Millersville's staff.

Zangari played baseball and football for J.P. McCaskey High School, graduating in 1984. He went on to play football at Shippensburg, where he was a defensive back and honor student, graduating with a degree in education in 1988.
