A long-time assistant with the Marauders, Brad Mangle is entering his 23rd season as an assistant on the offensive side in 2013.
On staff since 1985, he served two seasons as associate head coach in 1999 and 2000. During his tenure, Mangle’s primary duties have dealt with the development of Millersville’s quarterbacks. He served as the offensive coordinator for 20 years before becoming wide receivers coach in 2013.
Under his tutelage, standout Chris Fagan (1989-92) became the program’s all-time passing leader–a mark he held for seven years until Mangle coached Drew Folmar to some of the most prolific passing numbers in PSAC history.
Mangle also helped three-year starter Greg Moylan (1994-96) develop into one of the nation’s top Division II quarterbacks in the mid-1990s.Another prominent signal caller, Bret Stover, led the Marauders to a program-record 10 wins and an NCAA Division II quarterfinal berth in 1988. At the end of the 20th century, Folmar, a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, eclipsed his predecessors’ career records for passing yards (9,903) and total offense (10,105 yards). Folmar blossomed under Mangle’s guidance, posting a 30-12 record with a berth in the 1999 NCAA quarterfinals.
Over time, he has built a reputation for not only developing quarterbacks but also utilizing his skill players. During his time as offensive coordinator, 10 offensive players achieved All-America status. He has also coached two PSAC East Rookies of the Year and a PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year.
A native of Mechanicsburg, Mangle was an All-PSAC defensive back and three-year varsity letterwinner at Millersville. He was also a member of several PSAC East title squads. In 1981, he received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education before returning to his alma mater to earn a master’s degree in counselor education. In February, 2000, he received the Millersville University Football Alumni Award.
Mangle is an administrator in the school district of Lancaster.
