Women's soccer falls short to Bloomsburg in an intense matchup

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville women's soccer team came up short to the Bloomsburg Huskies, falling 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The match started evenly, as both teams traded shots and earned several corner kicks, though neither side was able to convert. In the 28th minute, senior Isabel Coy scored her first goal of the 2025 campaign, giving the Marauders a 1-0 lead with 17 minutes remaining in the half.

Millersville nearly extended its lead when the Huskies were called for a handball in the box, awarding the Marauders a penalty kick. Senior Peyton Yocum stepped up to take the shot, but her attempt struck the crossbar, keeping the score at 1-0 going into the half.

Bloomsburg came out strong to open the second half. Just four minutes in, a Millersville defensive error led to the equalizing goal. The Huskies continued to press the Marauders and capitalized on another defensive miscue, taking a 2-1 lead.

Millersville responded as junior Aubrey Strohecker broke free and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner to tie the match at 2-2. With the score level, both teams looked for the decisive goal.

In the 82nd minute, Bloomsburg finally converted on a corner kick. The initial header was stopped by senior goalkeeper Sabrina Zimmerman, but the Huskies pounced on the rebound to make it 3-2.

The Marauders pushed for a late equalizer, with Strohecker forcing a save from the Bloomsburg goalkeeper in the final minutes. However, the Huskies held on for the victory.

Millersville returns to Pucillo Field on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. to host West Chester.
