
Downs and Hessler start PSAC Championships with All-PSAC in hammer throw

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — The Marauders began the PSAC Outdoor Championships with two athletes earning all-conference status to close day one of the meet.

- Maddy Downs entered the meet with the third-best entry in the hammer throw, and Sarah Hessler came in with the second-best. The two switched spots on the final leaderboard, with Downs finishing as the conference runner-up with a distance of 165-4, and Hessler coming in third with a mark of 162-10.
- Seya Trujillo scored for the Marauders as well, finishing in sixth. Her throw of 159-2 added another three points to the eight and six Downs and Hessler scored with their results.
- Emily Massage ended the night for Millersville with an eighth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run and a time of 39:06.07. Massage scored one point for 'Ville, bringing its total on the day to 18 points through two events.
- Four of the seven events in the heptathlon were completed on day one, and Sabela Zablackis currently stands in eight place going into day two. Zablackis is working with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash. She'll look to climb the leaderboard tomorrow with the long jump, 800-meter run, and javelin throw.
