KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Led by
Charley Kirby's third-place finish, the Millersville women's golf team closed the three-round PSAC Championship in third for the second year in a row.
It is the first time that Millersville has produced back-to-back top-three finishes. Kirby's finish was the best by a Marauder since Danielle Greene tied for third in 2017.
Berkleigh Country Club played tough for 54-holes, but scoring was exceedingly challenging on Sunday with the wind whipping. Gannon, which won the tournament by 20 shots over West Chester, shot its lowest round of the event by five strokes. West Chester was 18 shots worse than in its second round, and Millersville shot its highest round of the tournament by 11 shots. While Millersville finished 17 strokes behind West Chester, the Marauders were 28 shots clear of fourth-place Bloomsburg.
Kirby closed the final event of her career with an 11-over 83, and round that included a birdie on the par-5 13th. Kirby entered the day in fourth but moved up a spot, tying with Gannon's Alexandria LeCureux and Cloe Mateo at 26-over. Gannon's Ditte Petersen took medalist honors at 17-over.
Amanda Wolf, who placed fourth at the championship last season, finished 14th. Freshman
Sabrina Swope took 18th, and
Lex Pfeufer's 12-over score counted on Sunday, placing her in 20th. Senior
Emma Schotsch placed 23rd.
Millersville's 2024-25 season included a program record for wins with six. Kirby won three times, the second most in a season for a Marauder, and Schotsch picked up a win as well. Including Wolf, all three seniors on the team graduate with at least one career win. Kirby's 81.7 scoring average season ranks fifth all-time at Millersville. Her career scoring average of 84.2 ranks fourth all-time. Schotsch concluded her career with the sixth-best scoring average, and Wolf ranks eighth. Because of Kirby's third-place finish, all three seniors will have earned All-PSAC honors as well.
