BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — Jocelyn Langer and
Allyson Black continued their recent success at the plate, but it wasn't enough as the Millersville Marauders dropped both ends of their doubleheader at Bloomsburg by scores of 12–7 and 13–2.
Langer got on base in her first four plate appearances of the afternoon without recording an at bat with three walks and one hit by pitch. She followed that up with a hit and a walk in three trips to the dish to extend her on-base streak to 44 consecutive games dating back to Feb. 26. Another Marauder history-maker in 2025,
Carly Vaughan, extended her record number of hit by pitches to 15 by getting plunked in both contests; she's now tied for the seventh most hit by pitches in a season in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history. The first place mark is 20, set last season by Kutztown's Morgan Slomkowski.
The biggest swing of the day for Millersville came from Black, who belted a two-run home run to dead center and gave her team a 3–1 lead in the fourth inning of game one. She finished the game two-for-four with two runs batted in (RBI) and two runs scored. The junior first baseman's raised her average over 30 points with five hits in her last five games including three of the extra-base variety.
Kendra Bumgardner also had a big game one, going three-for-four with a two-run double and three total RBI.
The Huskies churned out 25 runs in the day's 12 innings of play, and not even a torrential downpour midway through game two could slow them down. When the dust had settled on the nightcap, they had tallied 29 total hits and nearly 40 baserunners.
The losses leave the Marauders in a tie for last place in the PSAC with Mansfield at 6–22. They've also now officially been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, as the fifth and final PSAC playoff spot currently belongs to West Chester with 15 wins.
Millersville looks to snap its 11-game skid next time out against No. 16 Kutztown on April 25. It will be the final twin-bill of the season at Seaber Softball Stadium, and is slated to begin at 1 and 3 p.m.
