Marauders begin PSAC play against the Raiders

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • After suffering a second consecutive loss, the Millersville men's soccer team is eager for a win in their opening PSAC East matchup against the Shippensburg Raiders. In the last two games, Millersville has created the offensive opportunities but lacked the execution and finish. With the PSAC East so competitive, each point is critical.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders opened the season voted first in the PSAC East and No. 24 nationally.
  • Millersville collected its first victory on Sept. 5 with a 4-2 victory over Salem. This win came from a collective effort offensively. Senior Richy Valverde tallied his first goal on the season, along with sophomore Roy Parkyn. Parkyn accounted for four shots on goal, one goal, and one assist.
  • The Marauders' rookie class was also quick to make an impact as Matias Schmidt and Mikhil Patil each added a goal on the day.
  • Since the victory, the Marauders have totaled 17 shots in their last two matches, but have not scored. It is the first time 

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS

  • The Shippensburg Raiders concluded last season 4-9-3 overall and 1-9-2 in the PSAC East. This was the fourth consecutive season the Raiders finished sixth in conference play.
  • So far this season the Raiders are 1-1 with a victory over Chestnut Hill and a loss to Jefferson.
  • In the victory over Chestnut Hill, senior Ashton Davies lead the way for the Raiders with one goal and seven shots. Sophomore, Luca Heusser followed with one goal and four shots. Junior Ethan Paulukow joined in the action collecting his first goal of the season and redshirt sophomore Clay Waterman was playmaker tallying two assist.
  • Following the victory, the Raiders faced a tough loss to Jefferson. The Rams out-shot the Raiders 18-7.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Millersville leads the all-time series 36-28-8.
  • The last meeting was Oct.11 2023, which ended in a 3-1 victory for the Marauders. Connor Fiadino and Haven Thomas each scored for the Marauders and Valverde collected two assists.
  • The Marauders have won the last three matchups against the Raiders, combining for 10 goals while allowing just three. Millersville is 9-0-2 in the last 11 match-ups with Shippensburg. Ship's last win came in 2015, and it hasn't won at Millersville since 2006.
