MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - One's loss can also be another's gain. As the Millersville wrestling program lost eight established seniors, head coach Jerry Boland worked hard in the off-season to recruit 12 wrestlers. Boland has added many key additions to the team's current depth, looking to build on last year's success. There are 11 freshmen and one transfer who will represent the Black and Gold on the mat beginning in 2024-25.
"For the second straight year, we are bringing in an extremely deep class," said Boland. "These guys are extremely talented and have the character and work ethic to make an immediate impact on our program. The 11 incoming freshmen average over 100 wins, proving they have what it takes to win on the mat. Then adding a transfer is a bonus."
The common traits of the incoming class include exceptional work ethics, a willingness to sacrifice for the team, and a student-athlete who takes care of business on the academic side.
"We lost a lot of leadership and firepower to graduation last spring," said Boland. However, we have a strong group of upperclassmen who have already taken on a seamless leadership transition, and with the youthful energy in the room, I believe this will be a special year."
