SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Darian Hauf highlighted day two of the PSAC Outdoor Championship by becoming the conference champion in the pole vault. She was joined in the top three by her teammate Megan Malecki after Maddy Downs and Seya Trujillo secured All-PSAC status earlier in the day in the discus throw.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Hauf entered the meet as the top seed in the event, having won the event the last two years in a row, and finishing as the runner-up in the indoor season. Hauf completed the threepeat by clearing 12-8 3/4 on her first try, proving as the decisive tiebreaker in the final round. Hauf's season isn't over yet, as the now three-time outdoor champion will compete in the NCAA Championships on May 23 in Emporia, Kan.
- Malecki entered the event as the eighth seed, making a sizable rise up the leaderboards to clear a height of 12-2 3/4, a new personal record. Malecki's flawless run on 11-9 was the tiebreaker that gave the junior her first All-PSAC honors of her career.
- Downs, who finished in eighth place in the last two PSAC Outdoor Championships in the discus throw, earned her first career top-three finish at a conference meet. Downs' top throw from the preliminaries would have been good to still qualify for All-PSAC, but she topped that to solidify second place with a throw of 139-11 on her last attempt.
- After finishing as the runner-up in the hammer throw on day one, Seya Trujillo was back near the top of the podium after the discus concluded. Trujillo, like Downs, had a throw far enough in the preliminaries that would have garnered All-PSAC recognition, but dug deep for an impressive distance of 138-3 on her fifth attempt on the day.
- Millersville had three qualifiers on the track punch their tickets for the finals tomorrow, with the first being Katelyn Murphy in the 100-meter hurdles. Murphy hit a time of 15.14, good for the sixth-seed heading into the finals tomorrow.
- The Marauders 4x100-meter relay team of Hauf, Arianna Kouakou, Aurora Conrad, and Emma Elwell finished second in their heat with a time of 48.02. The squad heads into the finals as the fourth-seed.
- Last year's champion in the 400-meter dash will have a chance to defend her title, as Aubrey Sydnor qualified for the finals with a time of 58.54 to win her heat. The reigning champion and program record holder will enter the finals as the fifth seed.
- Indoor runner-up Chanel Hercules advanced to the finals in the long jump, taking ninth place with a jump of 17-7.
