Millersville lacrosse faces off with western opponent IUP

ABOUT THE GAME

  • The Millersville Marauders (2-0, 0-0) host the Indiana University of Pa. Crimson Hawks (0-1, 0-0). Millersville took a 19-6 win over Holy Family in the home opener as they had a diverse offensive presence with 12 different goal scorers. IUP's most recent loss was against Georgian Court, 18-13. 

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders won their home opener against Holy Family and handed the Tigers their third loss of the season. Ella Linthicum had a standout performance on the offensive side with a hat trick and four assists. Linthicum this season is perfect as she has placed all six of her shots on net. Five other Marauders scored two goals in the game against Holy Family. 
  • From the defenders to Morgan Scott in net, in two games they have only let their opponents score a total of 10 goals on them. Scott has started both games in net while having a 4.57 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. This has her in tied in first place for highest save percentage in the PSAC Standings.
  • After one game, the Marauders average an .847 shots on goal percentage with 29.5 shots per game. They have held their opponents to 25 shots per game with a .62 shot on goal percentage. From a defensive standpoint, they caused 24 turnovers, collected 43 grounds balls, and have a .837 successful clear percentage.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS

  • The Crimson Hawks are 0-1 to start the season but have players who can make things happen on the offensive end. Leah Moyer, only a sophomore for the Crimson Hawks, currently leads the team with three goals in their last game against Georgian Court. In that same game, Kathryn Burke played a massive part in the 13 goals scored on the day. Burke played a role in over half the goals scored against Georgian Court as she scored one goal but assisted six other goal. 
  • The starting goalkeeper for IUP is Maddy Schramm. In her 2023 season, she played in all 18 games with 16 starts as a freshman. In the current season, Schramm has logged 50:22 minutes, has 15 goals against, and six saves.
  • As a team, they average 13 goals a game with a .839 shot on goal percentage. This team relies heavily on assists as seven out of the 13 goals scored against Georgian Court were assisted. Defensively, they log 17 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, and have a .813 successful clear percentage.

  • The record between these two programs sits at 18-11 with the Marauders holding the lead and have a two game win streak. The last time these two teams encountered each other was back in 2020 before Covid took its toll. In their last meeting in 2020, Millersville had a stellar performance as they ran away with a 20-10 win over IUP.
