EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Millersville women's lacrosse fell 11-3 to fourth-ranked East Stroudsburg as they opened up PSAC play on the road.

Millersville took a 2-1 first quarter lead. Jodylynn Cadden got the action started in the 12th minute of play with a dodge around her defender and put the ball in the back of the net to go up 1-0. The Warriors had the response a minute later, but Liv Genovese with urgency drove the lane and tallied the second goal.

In the second quarter, Hannah Schiemer scored a hat trick for ESU to obtain the lead for the first time in the game. The Warriors changed up their game plan and scored six unanswered goals in the second to go up, 7-2.

Millersville was unable to make the five-goal comeback in the second half. Genovese started a rally as she scored the first goal in the third quarter to cut the lead to 7-3. ESU, however, logged four more goals to close out the game and give Millersville their first conference loss.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH KAITLYN HAFDELL:

  • Thoughts on today's game: "I think even though we did not come out on top, we still held our own against a ranked team."
  • What are some key takeaways: "Our defense dominated once again. Continuing to step up with amazing caused turnovers and solid 1v1s."
  • Thoughts on looking ahead to Bloomsburg: "Bloom is coming off of a high currently holding a 5-0 record. It's going to require a lot of focus and determination to be more fired up than they are at the first whistle, but I believe we have a really good team with a lot of talent. We are learning and continuing to improve with every game so I have no doubt we will bounce back and have a great game against Bloom!"
