MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Drew Stover, the PSAC's leader in blocked shots, was named Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following his performances against Shippensburg and Bloomsburg.
Stover helped the Marauders to their largest margin of victory over Shippensburg since 1998 and their largest margin of victory at Bloomsburg since 2003.
Stover's standout performance came against the Huskies as he blocked a career-high five shots and grabbed 10 rebounds. Seven of his rebounds came at the defensive end. With the game against Shippensburg well in hand, Stover played just 26 minutes, but he still contributed a steal, a pair of rebounds and 14 points. He made 14 of 15 shots in the two games.
Stover tops the PSAC in blocked shots with 1.5 per game. He is trending toward becoming the first Marauder since Elijah Obade in 2012 to lead the conference in blocks. Stover has blocked three or more shots six times this season.
It is the third time this season that a Marauder has won the weekly defensive award with Stover winning it twice, and
Day Waters winning it once.
