Morin, Bagnouls win doubles flight at Bloomsburg Invitational

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — The Millersville men's tennis team got its first look at the rest of the conference at the Bloomsburg Invitational, as one duo came away with a doubles flight championship to highlight the tournament.

The Marauders top pair of Lino Morin and Paul Bagnouls went 3–0 in the top flight of doubles play, going perfect to win the championship round. In the first round, the tandem defeated Arka Genguly and Jeremy Williams from Shepherd 6–2, and beat Stanislas Noel and Rocco Palombarini from Edinboro 6–4. To win the flight, Morin and Bagnouls bested Sergio Dilan and Vishesh Patel from Bloomsburg 6–4.

In singles play, Morin won his first round matchup against Genguly 7–5, 6–3, but fell in the second round and lost by default in his last two matches. Jasper de Koning was in the other half of the first flight, and after being defeated in his first round match, he strung off wins against Williams and Patel to earn fifth place in the flight. Victor Suarez and Sandor Wulf each competed in the second flight of singles, finishing fourth and fifth in the flight. Suarez won a match and lost a match leading up to the final round, beating Albert Martin from Bloomsburg 6–0, 6–3 and finishing in fourth place. Wulf was winless in his first two matches, but ended the weekend on a win by also beating Martin 6–4 in the first set before Martin retired. In the fourth flight, Joel Oetliker was the lone Marauder to compete in the six-person group. The sophomore went 1–2 in the flight, winning his final match against Dilan on Sunday 4–6, 6–4, 10–8.

Millersville has one last match to wrap up the fall season, a home meeting against Daemen. The Marauders will host Daemen at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at McComsey Tennis Courts.
