Raiders' late surge resulted in a draw

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Second-half chaos allowed the Shippensburg to net the tying goal in the final minute to cap off the game in a 1-1 draw with Millersville.

The Marauders and Raiders squared off earlier in the season, with Millersville securing a 3-0 win. Millersville is currently seated fifth in the PSAC standings, on the cusp of playoff contention, while Shippensburg is seated seventh.

Millersville capitalized on their first opportunity of the night and netted the first goal in the 31st minute. Aubrey Strohecker played a through ball to Aalivia Wainwright, who tapped it around the keeper to slot the ball in the back of the net, putting the Marauders up, 1-0.

Millersville dominated the remainder of the half as they ripped five more shots while blanking Shippensburg.

The game grew chippy in the second half, with each team receiving a yellow card, and Millersville also picked up a red card that proved costly.

Goalkeeper Sabrina Zimmerman charged onto the ball outside of the 18-yard box and touched it with her hands. She received the red card in the 82nd minute and the Marauders had to play a man-down for the remainder of the game.

In the final minute, the Raiders pushed all their players into the Marauders' defensive territory. After a Marauder foul 25 yards from the goal, Shippensburg's Ashton Gonzalez stepped up to take the free kick and placed the ball in the top left-hand corner to tie the game, 1–1.

Millersville sits at a 5-4-5 overall record and will take on West Chester next Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. for their final home match of the season.
