SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville men's soccer continued their climb up the PSAC East ranks with a 1-0 victory over the Shippemsburg Raiders.
Coming off back-to-back wins, Millersville looked to continue that momentum in their road game against Shippensburg, and they did just that.
In the 22nd minute of play, Tylen Thomas placed a one-touch pass leading Michael Dempsey into the Raiders' half. Dempsey settled and placed a low cross into the box looking for the foot of Thomas or Richy Valverde. Instead, the Marauders benefited from a Raiders' misplay as the cross deflected off the Shippensburg defender into the back of the net. This was the lone goal of the match and Millersville went on to win 1-0.
Millersville has earned a spot at the top of the pack of the PSAC Eastern Division. With a 4-2 record in conference and a 7-5 record overall, they sit in third just behind West Chester and Bloomsburg.
The loss drops the Raiders to 1-5 in conference and 2-9 overall.
The Marauders play on the road, Saturday, Oct.19 against Jefferson at 1 p.m.

THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH STEVE WIDDOWSON
- Overall thoughts from the match: "I thought we started the game well and established some good possession but weren't able to turn that possession into good enough chances on goal. As the game progressed we lost a bit of control and started to loose our execution. This meant we gave up far too many chances and caused ourselves a lot of problems. However, we showed good resiliency and earned a bit of luck to get the result, but we know we will have to be more consistent with our quality and execution in the rest of the PSAC games if we want to keep our run going."
