SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Coming off an NCAA Atlantic Regional title in 2023, the Millersville University baseball program is again expected to be among the contenders. The Marauders were voted No. 1 in Monday's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Preseason Poll.
The poll, voted on by a committee of NCBWA members and college sports communicators, awarded Millersville with nine of 12 first-place votes. Seton Hill received two first-place votes, and East Stroudsburg received one.
Millersville posted a 46-10 record in 2023 but graduated two All-America performers (Bren Taylor and Thomas Caufield) and an all-region selection (Jimmy Losh). Millersville must replace four starters in the field but does return its pitching staff nearly intact. Leading that group is 2023 All-America selection Carson Kulina, who went 9-1 with a 2.17 ERA in 74 2/3 innings.
In last season's NCAA regional, Millersville defeated Charleston (preseason No. 6) and knocked out West Chester (preseason No. 4) before beating Seton Hill (No. 2) twice in the Super Regional series. Seton Hill went 48-13 and returns seven position starters and four starting pitchers. East Stroudsburg, which went 36-14, returns eight position starters and four starting pitchers.
