| By:
  • Series: 25–10
  • Series Streak: Millersville, 1
  • First Meeting: L, 0–3 (1990)
  • Last Meeting: W, 3–0 (2022)

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • This will be the second PSAC bout for both of these teams. The Marauders come in at 0-1 in conference play while the Warriors sit at 1-0. Millersville dropped their first match to West Chester last Wednesday and East Stroudsburg claimed their victory over Kutztown in a sweep.
  • East Stroudsburg enters with an 8-5 record over and is riding a five-match winning streak featuring sweeps in four of five. The Marauders sit at 5-7 overall coming off of a 3-1 home victory over Chestnut Hill.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville comes in looking for their first PSAC East victory of the season after falling 3-2 to West Chester last Wednesday. This will be their second home match of the season against a PSAC opponent after facing Mercyhurst in the Marauder Clash, but their first against a PSAC East foe.
  • In the absence of starting outisde hitter Taylor Welter, a few freshmen have stepped up. Emma Kerwin, Sam White and Kalia Espenlaub have been shouldering the attack for the Marauders, especially against West Chester. Kerwin led the team in kills with 13 while White and Espenlaub set season-highs with 12 apiece. White and Espenlaub each recorded hitting percentages north of .400 in doing so.
  • Becca Hartranft has also responded to the challenge, finishing second on the team in kills behind Kerwin in their last matchup against Chestnut Hill.
  • After starting the season slow, the Marauder front line has continued to come into form. Millersville has totaled more blocks in its last four matches (26) than in the first eight (20). Madison Williams, Sam White and Emma Ludwig are players to pay attention to in that category.
  • The leader of this team is their setter, Emma Ludwig. She leads the team in assists with 437 and is coming off of a match in which she almost recorded a triple-double, finishing with 39 assists, 17 digs and eight kills.
  • Elizabeth Villegas reclaimed the role of libero against Chestnut Hill and will most likely start in that position in this match. Madison Von Neida had been coach Brian Smith's libero for the previous four matches.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • The Warriors sport a record of 8-5 on the season and sit at 1-0 in conference play having swept Kutztown last Friday night. They're riding a five-game winning streak that includes sweeps in four of those five games.
  • East Stroudsburg has certainly spread the wealth on the offensive end, as four players have tallied more than 90 kills so far this year. Warriors Sophomore and member of the 2022 All-PSAC East First Team Anna Coulter leads the squad with 125 while Graduate Student Claire Choloux ranks second with 112.
  • A strength of the Warriors has been their serving. Taylor Haan and Coulter have both topped 20 service aces thus far, recording 23 and 20 respectively. Haan has committed just seven service errors to those 23 aces.
  • Coulter has also commanded the net, totaling 40 blocks to this point. That is more than double the runner-up (Kaitlin Bruchhauser with 19).
  • The Warriors and the Marauders have faced a single common opponent this season in Chestnut Hill. Chestnut Hill was the victim of one of East Stroudsburg's many sweeps thus far this season.

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville: Millersville 3, Chestnut Hill 1 (Sept. 27, 2023) - Millersville returned home for the first time in three weeks and topped the visiting Griffins, 3-1. The victory was in large part due to the Marauders' domination at the net. Emma Kerwin led the team in kills with 17 while Emma Ludwig recorded a double-double with 39 assists and 17 digs.
  • East Stroudsburg: East Stroudsburg 3, Felician 0 (Sept. 26, 2023) - The Warriors claimed their fifth consecutive victory against Felician with a sweep of the visitors. Hitting percentage was the difference in the match, as they finished with a .316. In set one, the hosts recorded 16 kills to zero errors resulting an an outstanding .593 hitting percentage.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Marauders have traditionally dominated this conference foe over the years to the tune of a 25-10 series record. Between Oct. 18, 2008 and Nov. 18, 2013, Millersville claimed 13 straight victories. In that span, they won 39 of 41 sets played between the two teams.
