SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – In a tightly contested game on Tuesday afternoon, the Marauders fell to Shippensburg 1–0. The Marauders are now 4–3 and have lost their two games against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponents.
The lone goal of the contest came in the final moments of the first half, as the Raiders had a corner insert with 48 seconds left. The goal came shortly after, as Alexa Michielson was able to cash in on the opportunity.
The Marauders best chances of the match came late in regulation, when Millersville had a penalty corner and
Kristin Strijdom had her shot blocked. However, the Marauders were awarded a penalty stroke, but
Gianna Cugino's attempt went just wide missing the top left corner. Millersville had one final chance in the last corner off a penalty, and Strijdom had the ball near the top of the arc. Strijdom sent a shot towards the left side of the net with Cugino in front for the redirect, but the shot went out of bounds and the Raiders ran out the clock.
Millersville looks to bounce back when the Marauders return to Biemesderfer Stadium at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 to host Mercy.

POSTGAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH SHELLY BEHRENS
Initial thoughts on the game: I thought that's probably some of the best hockey we've played this year, just unfortunate to not stick one in. But I'm super proud of the kids. We really couldn't ask them to do anything more than they did but get a result.
On the late push: I think it's what we've been seeing in them all along. I think you got to see a little bit more of their personality as competitors the way I get to see them every day. And we want to bring that out more and more and more.
On what worked well: I felt there was a really positive synergy within the team. If I'm being honest, just a really great synergy to know if you go, I got your back, and if I go, you've got mine. So I think it's that right. I think that was a big piece going into the match. And then just putting it out there. Just one small error led to a goal, and that's unfortunate for us. But I love how we're playing. I love playing against Shippensburg. They're a great team, well coached. With us, I'm good with where we are. Lots of hockey to play.
On the mindset heading into the next game: Honestly, as much as we talk about the process, we're going to go win. Let's go win this one. And let's keep playing the way we've been playing and building off that. I can't say enough how every day we get better. I love that we get better every day, and we're going to keep finding the net. And it's still September. So I just want to see if we continue to grow and get better, but super proud. Great team effort today, played a great team, and that's what PSAC field hockey is.
