Upset! Marauders take down No. 12 West Chester

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville women's soccer captured a 2-1 upset win over No. 12 West Chester Wednesday at Pucillo Field.

Isabel Coy scored both of Millersville's goals including the game winner in the 54th minute.

The Marauders came out knocking on West Chester's door with two early shots from Palina Jordan in the first three minutes of play. With high pressure from the Marauders, Coy managed to retain the ball with three defenders around her at the 18-yard box. She created space and placed the ball in the back of the net in the 10th minute. Bella Fiorenza came up big in the first half to keep a clean slate going into halftime with four saves.

Rallying back in the second half, the Golden Rams found the equalizer to make the game 1-1 in the 53rd minute of play with a header from Julia Raybold. Coy had the response less than a minute later with a rebound off the post for an easy touch in the back of the net. Capitalizing on the Golden Rams watching, Coy helped the Marauders take the lead back. Fiorenza also did her due diligence on the back end having eight total saves on the night.

"It feels good to win" said head coach Matt Procopio. "It doesn't matter who we play or what they are ranked, we must repeat that type of effort all year."

The Marauders improve to a 2-2-2 record on the season while the Golden Rams fall to 3-2-1. The Marauders are set to play East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
