PSAC Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll Released

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The 2023 PSAC Preseason Volleyball Coaches Poll was released on Thursday. It includes rankings for both the West and East divisions, with Millersville coming in at sixth out of eight teams in the East Division.
Head Coach Brian Smith enters his 14th season with the Marauders. This year's edition of the team features a litany of new faces, something that he is well aware of.
"We have 13 new players, 12 freshmen, one transfer, so it is really hard to go rank yourself until you get the girls on the court and see what you have," Smith said. "I actually think we will do better than that, obviously, but I like the expectations there so that we can go out and start playing with a chip on our shoulder."
The ranking comes on the heels of a season in which the Marauders went 16-13 overall and 6-8 in the PSAC for a sixth-place finish.
"Of the 12 freshmen, I think nine are hitters. So yes, they are going to have to develop as a team," Smith said. "We've already seen we're going to have to do some skill development with some players, you know kinda tighten them up a little bit."
The season begins in the Pucillo Gymnasium at noon on Friday, Sept. 1 against the Wilmington University Wildcats.
