MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Wilmington women's team improved to an impressive 14-0 on the season after defeating Millersville 7-0 at McComsey Tennis Courts Tuesday afternoon.
The Marauders' record dropped to 1-6 with the loss. Wilmington has now recorded six shutout victories in 14 duals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• While Wilmington swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches, Millersville provided a challenge, especially at the top of the singles lineup where Marauders won at least one game in every set. It was the same in doubles as the Marauders did take one set in each of the three matches. The closest of the singles matches was in the No. 2 flight where
Maria Ojeda fell to Neus Ramos Moreno by a 6-2, 6-4 score.
REACTION FROM COACH MATT HELSEL
• "Wilmington is very strong and certainly showed it today. We actually played well, though, and we had several solid performances up and down the lineup. Matches like this prepare us for conference play, so we'll see how that goes pretty soon. We're getting battle-tested, and my bet is that these lessons pay off down the road. When that is is the question, but it's all part of the journey."
