  • Series: 17-4-3
  • First Meeting: L 2-5 (2006)
  • Last Meeting: W 3-1 (2023)
  • The Marauders hold a 16-2-2 record against Shippensburg in conference play

ABOUT THE MATCH

  • After a 1-0 win over Lock Haven, the Millersville men's soccer team traveled home in preparation for their next PSAC East matchup against East Stroudsburg. Although the Marauders did not execute their game plan how it was intended against Lock Haven, the team remained focus, played hard, and was able to come out on top. Senior Bob Hennessey stepped up for the Marauders with an early goal in the 21st minute of play. Freshman Josh Rodriguez, found Hennessey with a through pass, splitting the defense, leaving Hennessey one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Millersville's defense then held strong for the rest of play and secured the victory. Heading into the match against East Stroudsburg, the Marauders look to gain their fourth consecutive win and move back to the top of the PSAC East standings.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders (5-1-2) currently sit in third place of the PSAC standings, just one point behind the Bloomsburg Huskies. Following their win last Saturday, Millersville improved to 8-2-3 with three consecutive wins after their loss to Mercy on Oct.4.
  • Bob Hennessey leads the Marauder offense with six goals. Hennessey has scored in five games, with his best performance in the season opener against Ashland where he scored two goals, one being the game winner.
  • Travis Holiday has been a backbone for the team throughout the season. His 24 saves and .800 save percentage has kept opponents to just 14 goals over the course of 13 games.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • East Stroudsburg (6-2-5, 2-2-5 PSAC East) has struggled securing wins in conference play. The Warriors have tied against five different PSAC East opponents, one being the Marauders back on Sept. 23. During their game on Wednesday, the Warriors jumped to an early lead with a goal from Ignasi Cucurella Tuset, his seventh of the season. Lock Haven quickly responded with two goals, taking a 2-1 lead. ESU's, Hunter Paone responded with his first goal of the season, but ultimately it was the Bald Eagles that would finish on top with a late goal in the 82nd minute of play.
  • So far this season, the Warriors have scored 31 goals while allowing just 15. As a team, they average just over two goals a game and 17 shots on net.
  • Colby Raymond and Ignasi Cucurella Tuset lead the offense with seven goals. Nathan Bradway has been an excellent playmaker for ESU in the midfield with four assists.

SERIES HISTORY

  • East Stroudsburg leads the all-time series 46-21-6, but the Marauders are 14-5-5 with a 7-2-1 record at home since Steve Widdowson took over in 2007.
  • Millersville has scored 43 goals in 26 games, with their largest win margin being back on Oct. 20, 2012 (5-1).
  • The last two competitions between the Marauders and the Warriors have ended in 0-0 draws. The last victory came on Sept. 21, 2022 when Millersville defeated ESU on the road, 2-0.
