Marauders look to bounce back against Shepherd on senior day

ABOUT THE GAME

  • The Millersville women's soccer team will celebrate its 10 seniors on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. before facing off with the Shepherd Rams at 1 p.m. on Pucillo Field. The Marauders have went 0-2-1 in their three contests since the group's six-goal, shutout victory over Mansfield on Saturday, Sept. 17. 'Ville will look to gain ground on the Rams, who currently sit at No. 6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division standings, while the Marauders sit five points behind at No. 7.
  • Shepherd came out victorious in the teams' first meeting earlier this season, 2-0. Despite the loss, Millersville outshot the Rams 24-10, including a 12-6 mark on-frame.
  • Senior day coverage will begin at 12:20 p.m. on the 'Ville Sports Network.

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Head coach Matt Procopio's offense is led by Savannah Rennix, who leads the team in goals (3), points (7), shots (17) and shots on-goal (11) thus far. Outside of Rennix, the Marauder offensive production has been spread out, as five other players have accounted for one goal. Aalivia Wainwright ranks second in points and leads the Marauders in assists with two; she's the only player outside of Rennix with more than three points on the season. Reenix and Wainwright led the Marauders in shots and shots on-goal during the loss the Shepherd on Sept. 3. 
  • Reagan Kolinski was back in goal during Wednesday's nail-biting loss to No. 5 West Chester. The senior recorded eight saves while facing 24 shots and giving up two goals. She holds a 1-5-2 record in goal this season. 
     

SCOUTING THE RAMS

  • The Rams' offense is led by Sara Hohn, who has a team-high 14 points, which also ranks second in PSAC play. Her six goals is tied for the conference lead with four other players, while she also ranks top-five in both shots and shots on-goal. Delaney Bittner has served as the Rams' second option, scoring two goals and collecting an assist. Both Hohn and Bittner scored a goal in the Rams' 2-0 victory over Millersville earlier this season. 
  • In goal, Shepherd has split time between both Alayna Burgamy and Faith Leisinger. Leisinger recorded 12 saves in Shepherd's win earlier this season but hasn't seen the field since Sept. 14. 

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville:  - No. 5 West Chester 2, Millersville 1 (Sept. 28, 2022) - Millersville battled with nationally ranked West Chester Wednesday afternoon. After giving up an early score, the Marauders sent in an equalizer early in second half play. That 1-1 score would hold until the final minute of play as the Golden Rams were able to find a late goal to stay unbeaten. 
  • Kutztown: Shepherd 2, Lock Haven 1 (Sept. 24, 2022) - The Rams scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of play to knock off the visiting Bald Eagles. Lock Haven would attempt to mount a late comeback, scoring a goal to pull within one in the 64'. However, the Rams would hold on and improve to 4-4-2.
